Counselling Psychologist Anna Malena Bech

Anna Malena Bech

I qualified as a Practitioner Psychologist in 2007. Since then, I have gained a broad range of experience, having worked in local authorities, hospitals, and private and public mental health institutions. In 2011 I established my psychology practice in the City of London.

I gained my academic degrees from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and am chartered (authorised practitioner psychologist) by the Danish Supervisory Board of Psychological Practice.

Since moving to the UK in 2011, I have been a chartered member of the British Psychological Society and regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council. As a chartered counselling psychologist, I work in accordance with the Health and Care Professions Council’s Standards of Proficiency and the British Psychological Society’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.

Qualifications & Experience

I am also a member of the International Society for Coaching Psychology and adhere to the society’s Code of Ethics. I regularly undergo supervision and courses in coaching psychology.

In 2019 I completed the Level 1 Diploma in Metacognitive Therapy from the MCT-Institute.

Choosing a psychologist who is approved by the relevant regulatory bodies both in the UK and in Denmark ensures you are choosing a professional with a high standard of training and expertise.

I continuously seek to develop my professional skills by attending accredited courses and workshops, and I regularly undergo supervision.

Values

We believe that psychological services should be based on expertise and qualifications, and should be delivered with respect, compassion, and curiosity. By working in accordance with these values, we can provide a space where our clients can feel safe to explore difficult issues, to practise new ways of coping, and to attempt to make changes that bring them closer to their preferred way of living.

We believe that through expertly delivered psychological services, people’s psychological suffering can be alleviated, and people can be empowered to be their preferred selves and to live their preferred lives.

Therapeutic Approach

We will meet you with an open and non-judgemental attitude towards the issues you may have. We conduct the therapy or coaching sessions with your needs in mind.

Key to our approach is that we work collaboratively and openly with you. Together we work towards an understanding of the issues affecting your life. We also work on discovering more helpful ways to deal with your challenges and to bring you closer to how you would like to live your life. The focus is on how you interpret and relate to your problem, yourself, and the world around you.

In addition to CBT approaches, we also have experience with other models of therapy, enabling a highly skilled and individualised assessment and treatment.
